La Côte en Plein Air

Saturday, March 28 - Friday, April 3

La Côte en Plein Air was started in 2018 as a gathering of painters on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with the purpose of building community among artists and further promoting what they do. This year’s event is co-presented by Art Space 86 Community Art Events and the Walter Anderson Museum of Art, and invites painters for no charge to share in fellowship and creativity through a week of plein air painting in the coast’s myriad environments.

Each day we will be painting in a different community along the coast giving artists an opportunity to paint a broad range of scenes and providing the public the opportunity to experience the creation of artwork.

This is a free event, with optional elements available for additional fees, including: Paint the Town plein air competition in the City of Gautier on Saturday, March 28, a workshop this year by New Orleans artist and native Mississippian Billy Solitario on Horn Island, and a quick draw competition.

SCHEDULE:
Saturday, 8AM-5PM: Paint the Town competition in Gautier ($20)
Sunday, 9AM-5PM: Paint in Ocean Springs during the Spring Arts Festival
